LW: How did you get started in Filmmaking?

CF: I have always loved movies. My youth was spent glued to the TV screen or having my mom drop me off at the movie theater. Where I'd watch movies all day. Then when I was 22 I moved out to LA to work as a production assistant for Neo motion pictures. I worked there until I made Unspeakable.

LW: What are some of your favorite films?

CF: Black Sunday,Touch Of Evil,Clockwork Orange,Naked Prey and Dawn Of The Dead.

LW: You have a great style as an independent filmmaker, but who do you consider to be your biggest influnces?

CF: Mario Bava, Orson Welles, Val Lewton and Stanley Kubrick.

LW: Unspeakable is a pretty shocking film. Overall, how was the response for Unspeakable?

CF: The response to Unspeakable was interesting. I mean people either love it or hate it. Or they turn it off after Alice shits herself and pray to God that I die a horrible death. But the film opened a few doors and closed a few.

LW: Because of the graphic nature of Unspeakable, was it hard to find investors for The Ghouls?

CF: As far as investors I'm it. I sold my 19681/2 Mustang to make The Ghouls.

LW: Where did the idea for The Ghouls come from? I'm very excited to hear about actual ghouls being in a film, since even though I hear the term ghoul quite often, the only place I remember seeing a 'ghoul' was on an episode of Tales From the Crypt. What can we expect from these 'ghouls'?

CF: The Idea for The Ghouls came from a friend who offered me a job as a news stringer. I asked what the hell is a news stringer? He then told me, they are the guys that listen to police scanners, go to the scene of a crime or accident and video tape it. Then they sell the footage to the news stations. The more blood and guts the more money they get. So I went out and gave it a try. My producer John Santos and I followed and filmed a police chase through Hollywood. All that was going through my head, was that I hope the police shoot these fuckers. Then this footage would be gold. I realized that a stinger is a ghoul in search of death to feed the people who crave it.

LW: Was Ghouls shot on film? What was the budget?

CF: The Ghouls was shot on mini DV for $15,000. I love film but the video medium really fits the story so it works very well.

LW: What's next for Chad?

CF: Next I'm taking offers from distributors for The Ghouls and I'm working on a script with Lewis Jackson (Christmas Evil) tentatively called "Dirt".
