Jaime Anstead

Interviewed by: Crazy Ralph

Jaime Anstead

Today we're sitting down with Hollywood star Jaime Anstead who recently starred in "The Back Lot Murders" opposite the likes of Corey Haim, Priscilla Barnes, and Charles Fleischer. If you've read my review, you'll know that Crazy Ralph wasn't a big fan of TBLM but I did feel Jaime rose above the material. The review can be read here.

CR: Jaime, thanks for taking the time to meet with us.

JA: It's my pleasure.

CR: Ours too! Jaime, my first question is always the same; Are you a fan of horror movies?

JA: I have always been a huge fan of horror movies. When I was little I used to sneak out of bed at night and watch scary movies with my dad. Also, I like horror movies because they allow people to confront their own fears or demons on the screen.

CR: And what is your favorite scary movie?

JA: I have to say my favorite horror film is JAWS. It is the one movie that still haunts me today. The "monster" is a reality that could happen to anyone.

CR: You recently starred in the slasher movie, "The Back Lot Murders". Would you like to do more work in the genre?

JA: YES! YES! YES! When else can you go through a gruesome death and actually live to tell about it?

CR: What were some of your most memorable moments from the production, both on the set and off?

JA: My most memorable moments on set during the production were as follows:
Getting all rigged up to die. They put a harness type gadget under my shirt where the axe stuck and a tube under all of my clothing that connected to a pump so that when I was hit with the axe, blood pumped out.
My very favorite on set moments, I have to admit, were getting my hair and make up done everyday. I loved that! In fact, I have missed it since shooting completed!

My most memorable off set moments were the times that Charles Fleischer, Priscilla Barnes and I would sit together and come up with witty re-writes to an otherwise iffy script. The wrap party was also a huge highlight!

CR: Tell us a little about your character in "The Back Lot Murders".

JA: Janey Colfax is a daddy's little girl. She is from a wealthy family and her father is a record executive. She's quite naive and doesn't seem to realize that her new boyfriend is just using her to get a record deal for his band and cheating on her every chance he gets. She is a person that always looks for the good in others and does not really believe that there are bad people out there. I believe she led a sheltered life and looks at the world through rose-colored glasses.

CR: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

JA: Groundhog Day! No, just kidding. Breakfast at Tiffany's is my very favorite movie. Audrey Hepburn is just so innocent, despite her means of survival.

CR: What are you afraid of?

JA: A great white shark gulping me down while I'm swimming in the ocean. Also, I'm starting to fear that Kid Rock is slowly draining Pam Anderson of all her coolness.

CR: Do you have any other films in the works, Jaime?

JA: Yes. "Death Train" should be released sometime this year. It is about a train that gets taken over by a group of prisoners being transported from Mexico back to the U.S. Death Train features Bryan Genessee as the heroic lead and Bentley Mitchum as the psychotic bad guy. I play the female lead, Marina, a very cynical young woman that becomes quite caring and compassionate through a series of awful events that occur during a train robbery. I have had a few other offers and I am sorting out which project I am best suited for.

CR: Thanks so much, Jaime, it's been a pleasure and I look forward to following your career. For more information on Jaime, along with her films, take a gander at her official website.
