LW: Why Horror and Splatter?

TR: i don't know! (laughing!)
i love horror films. if i was 6 years old i've seen "american werewolf"...i had fear and i think that was the point for me to say "i want do this! i want shock some people! i want to be a filmmaker!

Every evening, if my parents sleeping, i go to the video recorder and put some films into . a very great time. then came the classics: texas chainsaw massacre, the romero zombies and stuff like "deadly spawn" , the fulci's and other great stuff...

LW: What are some of your favorite horror films?

TR: i cannot say this. it gaves so many great films...actors and directors... i like tarantino, romero... i don't know... if your heart is beating for horror/splatter/ thriller etc u must love them ALL!!!

LW: What are your favorite director's? Which influence your style?

TR: i've say something about that in the question before. but i think... influence my style...at first raimi, tarantino, guy ritchie etc... but i think as director u need a final point...and at this point u must say to yourself that YOU ARE the one which is the own influence...

LW: What type of equipment do you use?

TR: we shoot some stuff on digital video (sony pd 150, beta etc) for music clips we shoot on 16mm... we cut on an avid or programs like this. i love to shoot on celluloid, but at first i love it to SHOOT an movie...if u shoot on digital u can save a lot of money and u can finding some "mistakes" on your own work...the digital shooting are my own "learn-process"...if i do mistakes i can see them very fast and i can make
somethings better next time, u know.

LW: What is your usual budget?

TR: for old films we shoot we've a 6.000-8.000 usd budget...the last film "rigor mortis" 25.000 usd (catering, actors, flights etc.) i shoot too for german tv (M TV) and this budget is very high... for my us project we need 1,5 million usd. we want to shoot on 35mm.

LW: Is it hard to get investors interested in hardcore horror?

TR: it's very fuckin' hard man!!! in germany it is sometimes too hard to find some investors. the censorship over here is shitty and the production
companies want to shoot some shitty comedys and shitty stuff all the time! for my us project "live bait- only one night" (an very powerful werewolf-movie) we'll work with us or other international investors, but its also hard to find some. but i think all we need is time! if we have the time... we became an investor for my film! and we have the time!!! (hey!!! if anybody out there...please contact me asap!!!) the script for "live bait" is very good, a good friend of mine is the writer, ted geoghegan (nikos the impaler, demonium and other stuff). i think if some investors read the script...we've the money fast!!!

LW: Any interesting stories about your shoots? You told me about Rigor Mortis having problems-elaborate.

TR: Yep... i've problems with the german censorship. we shoot this very gory and sick movie and some pictures and the trailer was in the internet. some german cops find this stuff and i've some problems yet. if i release the film here in germany it can happens that i went to jail---8 month!!! that's totally shitty and crazy!!! if u shoot an very hard horror film here in germany...u are an criminal subject without rights! man...i never raped a woman, i never killed somebody and i'm not a thief! so, what am i??? right! only a filmmaker! that's my job! and my LIFE!
