Ahhh, the ol' anthology film. One of my fav's, right up there with Backwoods horror. How can you go wrong with (usually) three stories, all 20 or so minutes in length, that get right into the heart of a story? Okay, you can screw it up easily(Zombie Chronicles), but even when they are screwed up they have their good points (ZC had great make up FX!).

But now let's talk about Campfire Tales. This is a great anthology film. I have heard some slack about it, but it has what ANY good film needs-a little gore, boobage, and Ron Livingston.

I was hooked from the get go. Shot in black and white, we have the old story of the Hook. You know the one. The one with the escaped criminal with a hook for his hand. The girl is making out with her boyfriend, but sees something and gets scared, so they leave. But it ends up they find the hook dangling from the car door. Anyway, it's a very cool way to start things off, plus the segment has Cyclops himself, James Mardsen, and Butterfly Effect's Amy Smart.

I won't ruin the other stories for you, but they are fun, and deliver some good intense creeps, and you get your Ron Livingston intake. One deals with a couple, just married, that go into the woods were they shouldn't. The other deals with a creepy child lover. THis one gave me the willies. Good stuff. And last is a moody little piece about a daughter and father, and a guy that gets caught in a rainstorm. Once again, I will hammer this home...rent this movie. It is FUN!
