Eli Roth (my idol) calls Final Destination 2 "Gore Porno". His reasoning is that in porn the story sucks so you fast forward to the next sex scene and in FD2 the story sucks so you fast forward to the next death scenes. While I don't think the story is all that bad, his logic is solid because the gore in Final Destination 2 is more intense, more violent and more explicit than anything you have ever seen in a studio film.

If you've seen the first film in the series, you know the basic story - some teens cheat death but then death comes back for them. While the first movie played that scenario straight, the sequel is balls to the wall gore and everything else is a very distant second. The first flick featured a pretty cool airplane disaster. The second one is a car wreck but my friends, this wreck is the greatest sequence I've ever seen. I could loop that wreck and watch it for hours on end. When you see it for the first time your mouth will be hanging open in surprise. It is so awesome, it is a legendary sequence. That sets up basically a series of gruesome deaths. Deaths more ingenious and filled with more blood than you can imagine. I thought Italian horror was gory. FD puts them ALL to shame. This is a gore fiend's wet dream.

The acting is good but the characters are all so over the top that you can never take any of it too seriously. The story is basically there just to take us to the next death scene, it has no bearing outside of that. There's a quick tit shot early on but nada the rest of the way. I have to give the filmmakers props for realizing that they couldn't play this straight and that they had to find a niche to make it a success. The niche they chose was gore and my friends, this movie kicks all kinds of ass.
